In combination with the renowned turbocharged five-cylinder engine, which delivers 400 hp and 500 Nm of torque, Audi Sport racing driver Frank Stippler equaled the then lap record in the compact class on the iconic N\u00fcrburgring Nordschleife. Three years and one technological development later, the feat was repeated. With identical performance thanks to the powerful 2.5 TFSI engine, the Audi RS 3 once again proves to be the fastest compact model on the Eifel racetrack, more than seven seconds ahead of the 2021 model.<br \/><p class=\"000H2\"><strong>The torque distributor: an innovation that makes the difference<\/strong><\/p><p>&#8220;The torque splitter, which ensures variable torque distribution between the rear wheels, has enabled us to achieve a new level of lateral dynamics. This has been a game changer,&#8221; says Marvin Schw\u00e4tter, Technical Project Manager of the Audi RS 3. &#8220;We have identified opportunities for improvement and refined the current model in detail. As a result, the Audi RS 3 is now even more agile and capable in corners.&#8221;<\/p><p>The compact sports car demonstrates this on the hairpin bends of the Spanish Montserrat mountains as well as on the Parcmotor Castellol\u00ed circuit northwest of Barcelona at the foot of the mountain range. The varied layout of this four-kilometer circuit, with its tight bends and significant elevation changes, provides ideal conditions for enjoying the enhanced driving dynamics of the top model. Start the roaring five-cylinder engine, select the performance mode suited to the race track and enjoy precision lateral dynamics.<\/p><p>The Audi RS 3 avoids understeer right from the start and pivots more easily thanks to fine tuning of the chassis and intervention in the braking system. While the rear differential transmits the torque to the wheel outside the bend, the wheels on the inside of the bend are slightly braked. Thanks to these finely dosed braking interventions, the Audi RS 3 maintains the apex more precisely than before and positions itself better in the centre of the bend. This allows the driver to accelerate earlier and reach a higher speed at the exit of the bend.<\/p><p class=\"000H2\"><strong>A very technical origin<\/strong><\/p><p class=\"000Copy\">This earlier and more controlled agility is made possible by an improved algorithm that allows the chassis control systems to communicate with each other more precisely. The two control units of the torque distributor \u2013 the electronic stabilisation control, the brake torque vectoring (i.e. the wheel-selective torque control) \u2013 and the adaptive dampers of the RS sports suspension react even more sensitively to the respective driving situations, always depending on the selected driving mode. The interaction of these systems also ensures increased stability, for example in wet or snowy conditions.<\/p><p class=\"000Copy\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter
