From of the new Ypsilon, our cars of the future will be inspired by the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE”, declared Luca Napolitano, CEO of the Lancia brand.

Lancia Pu+Ra HPE , premier véhicule de la nouvelle ère Lancia

A 100% electric car, with a vision in terms of autonomy of more than 700 km.

The Lancia Pu+Ra HPE is the first car inspired by the world of furniture, thanks to the collaboration with Cassina, for a typically Italian “home feeling” experience.

Lancia Pu+Ra HPE is the first car equipped with the S.A.L.A. virtual interface. which will be found on the new Ypsilon. Thanks to S.A.L.A., Lancia will be the first Stellantis brand to adopt Chameleon and TAPE (Tailored Predictive Experience) technologies, which centralize audio, air conditioning and lighting functions, allowing the environment inside the car to be adapted. car at the touch of a button or by the sound of voice.

Exterior design for a streamlined body of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE

Lancia Pu+Ra HPE is the natural evolution of Lancia Pu+Ra Zero, incorporating many characteristics of the three-dimensional sculpture unveiled last November.

The new Lancia concept car fully embodies the principles of the brand’s new stylistic language, a pure and radical language where the volumes of the cars are created from the intersection of elementary and emblematic shapes such as the circle and the triangle, combined with some eclectic details. The new Lancia concept car thus becomes the expression of timeless Italian design, with a sustainable and innovative approach that goes beyond typical automotive language.

The concept car is called Lancia Pu+Ra HPE: “Pu+Ra” refers to the new pure and radical stylistic language of the brand, while HPE stands for High Performance Electric, for a car that is both eco-sustainable, exciting and evolved. The acronym HPE was first used in the 1970s by the Lancia Beta, and stood for “High Performance Estate”, a symbol of sportiness and practicality.

Progressive Green is the name of the color of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE, “progressive” for its vision of the future of the brand and its customers, and “green” for its value in terms of sustainability. The bluish green color – with a warm golden hue, produced using liquid metal with latest generation pigments – pays homage to the historic and timeless Lancia Flaminia Azzurro Vincennes.

The constant dialogue between past and future is expressed in the flowing side lines that descend towards the rear of the car, reminiscent of the Aurelia and Flaminia with a clean design, based on aerodynamics, durability and fluidity volumes.

The side badges feature the new Lancia logo, an expression of the brand’s new visual identity. It takes all the historical elements of the crest (the steering wheel, the banner, the shield, the lance and the lettering), reinterpreting them with a touch of modernity, to express innovation, high-end, Italianness and eclecticism.

The dialogue between the past and the future is also found at the rear, where we find the iconic round lights, inspired by the most brutal and radical spirit of the brand, while a clear reference is made to the legendary Lancia Stratos, with the new iconic Lancia lettering placed between the lights.

The front reinterprets Lancia’s historic grille, now carried into the future by three rays of light that make it iconic, memorable and visible from afar. Above the chalice (the historic grille) stands out the new Lancia script, created with an original font inspired by the world of fashion.

The innovative circular roof offers a wide panoramic view, with a clear reference to the architectural elements, so characteristic of Lancia’s new stylistic language.

The rear window also recalls the Lancia of the 70s, the Beta HPE, with enveloping horizontal lines that revisit the famous awning structure, with a touch of modernity. The large windows emphasize natural light, to recall the concept of “home feeling”.

The feeling of being at home inside

The interior of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE is in perfect coherence with the brand’s new stylistic language, pure and radical, thanks to the use of iconic and simple shapes that deviate from the typical automotive language.

Inside the concept car, an eclectic space inspired by interior design, the atmosphere of Italian houses, fluid architecture with great attention to detail in an overall composition of pure forms.

The inspiration from Italian furniture is evident in the round rug and in the front seats, inspired by the Cassina armchairs and treated as two iconic, unique and independent armchairs, with unique proportions and a bold colored treatment.

Pure geometric shapes are also expressed in the new round tables, in the center console and even in the dashboard, which subverts the automotive approach and is based on a single iconic piece of round glass, crossed by clear cuts.

The large windows help flood the cabin with natural light. The result is the creation of a welcoming environment, a living space that conveys the typical feeling of a warm Italian home.

The blinds reconnect with the Lancia Beta HPE icon and the world of architecture, projecting natural light and shadow into the passenger compartment, while in the central part they become a luminous technological element that interacts with S.A.L.A. and its functions.

Lancia and Cassina

The partnership continues between Lancia and Cassina, two brands of Made in Italy excellence in their respective fields, which are now looking to the future with attention to sustainability and well-being on board.

With its experience, the fruit of almost 100 years of history, innovation and research, Cassina today transfers its experience to the automotive sector, focusing on the values shared with Lancia, such as the Italian spirit, innovation, tradition and respect for the environment.

Italian furniture design is applied to the design of the car, resulting in a cultural fusion that draws on certain pieces of furniture that set the tone for a home, transferring them to the Lancia concept car and creating real domestic spaces.

The common journey between Lancia and Cassina is inspired by “The Cassina Perspective“, that is to say the company’s vision of combining the most innovative products with icons of modernity to create welcoming environments and eclectic, according to a unique code of excellence in design.

We started from certain furnishing elements that set the tone of a home and transferred them to the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE: the centrality of upholstered furniture in the living room; the functionality of the coffee table, a central “multifunctional” element; the warmth of the carpet which immediately recalls a home environment, with great importance given to color and uniformity of materials.

Sustainability by Lancia

Sustainability by Lancia is sustainability with style, Sustylenability, a word made up of “sustainability” and “style”.

The Lancia Pu+Ra HPE is in fact the first complete expression of this “Sustainability by Lancia”, a 100% electric manifesto that defines the brand’s vision for the next 10 years, where each element reflects the idea of ” elegant and simultaneously durable home feeling in the cabin, in perfect Lancia style.

Thanks to partnerships with excellent Made in Italy brands, sustainable materials have been used in the refined interior of the car, in line with the values set out in Lancia’s ten-year strategic plan, with 70% of the tactile surfaces made with materials eco-sustainable.

Four values have guided the brand on the path to sustainability: the reinterpretation of tradition, the Italian spirit, eclecticism and the “home feeling”.

Reinterpreting tradition means finding sustainable materials with the aim of redesigning Lancia tradition, using innovative, recycled and recyclable materials, produced using sustainable processes. This concept is expressed in the reinterpretation of the Lancia panno wool fabric used for our seats in collaboration with Cassina, which present the new ocher velvet with GreenGuard® certification, based on low chemical emissions and GWP environmental impact.

The Italian spirit that is part of Lancia’s roots is reflected in the use of materials that symbolize Italian excellence and express a unique heritage in terms of beauty, authenticity and craftsmanship. The Lancia Pu+Ra HPE door panels are covered in MARM \ MORE, a material whose name comes from marmore, the Latin word for “marble”, while “MORE” indicates how marble adds value to the material , to the extent that its treatment creates a new and different perception of the marble itself. From being heavy and static, it becomes light and portable, an innovative material made up of 50% marble dust waste. It is a recycled fabric, produced from natural colors, soft to the touch and waterproof, manufactured by Limonta and the startup FILI PARI.

Eclecticism is the ability to draw from areas that are not strictly linked to automobiles, in the purest Italian style. This concept is found in the iconic table made of M49 BioAcetate Renew™, cellulose acetate. Cellulose acetate is widely used in the fashion world, particularly in the production of eyewear, for its ability to cover a wide range of styles, colors, effects and graphics. This specific feature is part of the innovative coffee table included in the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE.

The expression “Home feeling” means creating a comfortable environment inspired by Italian homes so that our customers feel at home every time they get in the car.

The rear parcel shelf of the car envelops the seats with warm and contemporary wood marquetry, made from “recycled raw material” in partnership with Tabu and its “Biodiversity” wood marquetry collection. An innovative, circular product that uses processing waste from a range of high-quality solid woods, recovering and skillfully reforming it in the hands of expert cabinetmakers, into an original and eclectic new material.

The undisputed star of this “family” atmosphere is the natural wool rug, a handmade item without any waste. Its circular shape accompanies the style of the dashboard and the iconic table; the 3D sculpting process recalls elements of the hood, enveloping the interior as if it were a living room at home.

The entire rear of the car and the lower part of the cabin are covered in warm and comfortable velvety nubuck (from Poltrona Frau), produced in Italy under a certified supply chain without chrome tanning.

The electrification strategy

In accordance with Stellantis’ electrification strategy, Lancia will launch the New Ypsilon in 2024, in hybrid and electric versions, and from 2026, only 100% electric cars will be marketed, and from 2028, concomitantly with the arrival of the new Delta, the brand will only sell electric models exclusively.

The Lancia Pu+Ra HPE, a practical and agile model with a streamlined, efficient and aerodynamic body, constitutes the 100% electric manifesto. It defines the brand’s vision for the next 10 years, in terms of autonomy, charging time and efficiency, for market-leading performance.

Lancia has always produced models that have rewritten the history of three major automobile segments: city cars, flagships and compact sedans. It will be the same in the future, when the new Lancia cars offer the best of all three segments and benefit from the winning specialties of the Stellantis platforms. Compact, agile and pleasant to drive, the new Lancia models will appeal to European customers, the “progressive classic influencers”, who seek timeless elegance, the Italian spirit and innovation, as well as a comfortable and pleasant experience on board. .

– a range of more than 700 km

– a series of aerodynamic features: low roof, slim digital mirrors, aerodynamic rims*, three front and aerodynamic skid plates/

*Goodyear manufactured the tires for the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE, with a unique design and custom sidewalls for a perfect fit to the wheel, giving a premium look to the vehicle.

The tires feature an aerodynamic sidewall that guarantees the highest level of performance and improves fuel efficiency.

“Effortless Technology by Lancia”, easy to use, at the service of people

The future vision of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE foresees simple, effortless and intuitive technology that makes life on board easier for its customers, welcoming them and making them feel “at home”.

S.A.L.A. (Sound Air Light Augmentation) is the pillar of Effortless Technology by Lancia.

S.A.L.A. is a minimal and intelligent virtual interface that brings together audio, climate and lighting functions. The driver and passengers can therefore adjust the interior environment of the car with the simple press of a button, or even with the sound of their voice.

S.A.L.A. offers the customer the choice between three operating modes on board:

Immersive, to amplify the driving experience thanks to Stellantis Chameleon technology which will debut for the first time on a car and which is capable of “adapting” the atmosphere of the cabin according to the external environment, adjusting sound, air and light accordingly.

Well-being: thanks to Stellantis artificial intelligence, TAPE (Tailored Predictive Experience) anticipates the different moods of the driver and passengers, reacting to improve their well-being thanks to a better atmosphere on board.

Entertainment, to take advantage of waiting times, offers the possibility of watching a film in streaming, playing a video game or browsing social networks.

The New Ypsilon will be the first Lancia model to be equipped with the S.A.L.A. interface.

To create an ever more complete and unique immersive experience, the progression of S.A.L.A. will follow the evolution of Stellantis technological platforms step by step, so that each brand can personalize the functionalities of its different models.

Preview of the short film “Giving shape to the future”

During the press event “Emozione Pu+Ra” the trailer for the short film “Giving Shape to the Future” was previewed, which can be viewed here and which will be broadcast in in full on the brand’s social networks from the beginning of May.

This is the second episode of the three-part “New Lancia Renaissance” web series, which celebrates the brand’s renaissance journey to become a desirable, credible and respected brand in the European premium market. The first episode was posted online last December after Lancia Design Day, the first event of the brand’s new era.

In this second episode, Luca Napolitano, CEO of the Lancia brand, accompanied by the entire Lancia team, takes viewers to discover Lancia Pu+Ra HPE, a 100% electric concept car which represents the brand’s vision for next ten years in terms of design, interior feel, sustainability, electrification and technology.

Filmed in the brand’s offices at the Centro Stile Lancia in Turin and at the Cassino showroom in Via Durini in Milan, the trailer is an uninterrupted succession of images that use the language of documentaries to show what usually remains hidden from General public.

It gives voice to the many protagonists in the development process of the Lancia Pu+Ra HPE and allows us to appreciate how the collaboration with Cassina was an essential source of inspiration for the development of the interiors of the concept car, making them much closer of those of a house.

The third and final episode of the web series will be presented in 2024 on the occasion of the launch of New Ypsilon.
